Begin Again 03:13

about

This album story has two sides: together and alone. Either way, the album began right after I blew up my life. Hoping for the best I started looking for myself.

It began with a year of capturing unedited, solo performances. Those performances became a collection I called Begin Again and shared sparingly. The songbook and poster bonus items were created at the first part of the process. I dedicated this part to my friend and constant encourager Richard Flohil.

I then intended to let go and have the songs remixed beyond my control (like the universe was remixing me), but I wasn’t sure how. Instinct said it was something about being patient and dropping expectations. So I waited. One by one, over three years, twelve stellar answers appeared.

Never mind their awards. My guests are adventurers who followed the request: “Using only strings, vocals and percussion tell the story of this song. Without hearing more. Without suggestions from me…. Go.” They connected themselves to the songs and that connected us all together. I approved their mixes without hearing them.

Music was the medium but it was actually an experience in trust, communication and community.

Five years later, this is me. Comfortably connected. Gratefully remixed.
